Adventure Log 02: Small Bugs are Icky, Super Gigantic Bugs are Terrifying!
Anzu: Phew! What a week!
Sasuke: Yeah, we explored a lot but wow was it dangerous. These new monsters are way tougher than the first dungeon!
Shibao: *passes cups of cocoa to everyone* ...I don’t want to look at bugs for a while...
Everyone: ... ... ...
Sasuke: Yeah, we’ll try to avoid them for a bit.
Tsuki: Well, I had a lot of fun. That forest we went to was pretty neat and I’m glad we’ve been exploring the lower floors of that first dungeon. It’s way more interesting down there. I wonder if there’s any super cool loot at the bottom.
Sakura: There has to be! Games always hide the best treasure in the hardest to reach areas!
Cosmon: There are lots of Hands and Lips in that dungeon though...
Anzu: Ugh, I don’t like those things at all. The Hands are really good at casting confusion and the Lips can charm us. Both make us bop each other instead of the monsters. We’ve had some really close calls and almost killed each other when that happens!
Shibao: Sorry I blasted you guys with fireballs. T_T
Sasuke: It’s not your fault. It’s those stupid monsters. It seems like we’re getting a little bit better at resisting them now that our levels are getting higher, though. We just need to get rid of them as soon as possible when we see them. Same for those purple demons that can silence our magic users.
Tsuki: Tactics are getting important fast! We have to be little Adventure Generals now!
Sakura: Those monsters in the lower levels of the first dungeon give a lot of experience, though. So it’s helping us level up faster. I’m glad we focused there first before doing some serious exploration in the forest. It made us a lot stronger for dealing with some of the baddies in there.
Shibao: Yeah! I’ve got so many fancy spells now. It’s a big help! By the way, why are so many monsters hiding behind doors? It seems like a lot of the time we find big groups of them behind doors a lot.
Anzu: I wonder if they’re friends. Are we interrupting get togethers so they’re actually just mad we showed up unannounced in the middle of their party? Are we actually rude? =(
Sasuke: I don’t think so... They’re probably just resting in camp the same as us. They would attack us the first chance they got if they stumbled across us in a dungeon. They’re definitely mischief makers.
Shibao: Yeah, and sometimes we come across groups of good monsters and the game asks us if we want to fight them. So, they’re not all meanies.
Anzu: I never want to start a fight with good monsters. That’s so cruel! They’re just trying to survive too.
Sasuke: Absolutely! We’ll never fight good monsters. That will always be one of the big rules for our group! =D
Shibao: Why does this game keep encouraging us to do bad things? I don’t want my character to be evil and I don’t want to attack good monsters. =(
Anzu: I think we should have a no doors rule when first exploring a new dungeon, too. Basically we don’t go through any doors unless we absolutely have to at the start. That way we can actually map out a decent amount of the area safely and not walk into obvious ambushes.
Sakura: That’s actually really smart. I think we can get a lot done that way. Then we can handle the doors one by one totally committed to bopping big groups of monsters.
Sasuke: Alright. That will be our second big rule: doors can wait. *nods thoughtfully*
Tsuki: Exploring the lower levels of Kraidia Caverns has been fun even if the monsters are super tough. There’s that one area where no one can use magic that was neat and also a bit scary. Also, we actually needed to use a teleporter to explore the third floor properly.
Sakura: I didn’t expect that. Usually I just think of those things as traps. I thought we were in big trouble. I was worried if we’d get out of there.
Sasuke: Sometimes not knowing what happens next is what makes an adventure fun, though!
Anzu: That’s true. Still, we’ll need to think more because now we’ve learned that not all traps are bad.
Shibao: I thought the forest was very pretty.
Anzu: Yeah, it was so nice and green. When we finally got over there the baddies in that place were pretty manageable because we levelled up in the caverns.
Cosmon: The monsters beyond the sign are bad...
Everyone: ...
Sasuke: Yeah, we won’t go back there for a little bit. Those were strong. They could almost beat us in one hit. We ran so fast to get out of that area.
Shibao: I thought the mist there was just to make a spooky atmosphere in the game, but it actually meant the monsters after the sign were super duper dangerous!
Tsuki: At least we found that flower for the one lady.
Cosmon: DOOM MANTIS!!!!!
Everyone: T_T
Sasuke: That huge insect defending it was terrifying! It was so big! My neck hurt trying to look up at it. We barely beat it...
Anzu: And then that queen bee and her guards attacked us right after. She did seem angry we were picking the flower. Were we doing something bad by taking it? Was it her favorite flower? She couldn’t grow more?
Sasuke: I don’t know...but her and her guards were super tough! We almost didn’t make it. Everyone got knocked out except Sakura.
Sakura: I was worried I was next but luckily my boomerang finished her off. After that I took the flower, gathered you all up, and ran out of there as fast as I could.
Tsuki: You saved us! *hugs Sakura*
Sakura: I was just lucky. I was crying the whole way back to town. T_T
Sasuke: Thank you, Sakura. We were able to finish that quest and get some more fame. So we’re slowly becoming heroes! We should go investigate that marsh next time. We’ve been putting it off because we don’t like stinky places, but it’s probably time. We can try one of the tougher dungeons too if we feel up to it. What do you all think?
Anzu: Let’s give it a shot and see what happens. It’s time to explore further away. Gradually we’ll be strong enough to help the king. Let’s keep at it.
Eiko: *Walks in* Ah, are you all finishing up your chat? If so, perfect timing because dinner is ready. We’re having fish, carrots, and mashed potatoes tonight.
*Shibao’s eyes light up at mashed potatoes*
